Producer: Daniel Hernández Farm: El Tigre Location: Urrao, Antioquia, Colombia Process: Washed Variety: Chiroso Elevation: 2000 masl
Tasting Notes: Guava pastry, milk chocolate, mint leaf
Processing Details: The coffee undergoes initial harvesting and selection using flotation and manual processes. The coffee is then fermented in the cherry for 24 hours. After this period, the cherries undergo the pulping process. Following pulping, the coffee beans are washed and finally, sun-dried.
Why We Love It: This coffee is a beautiful expression of the Chiroso variety. It stood out to us on the cupping table with its yummy guava sweetness and refreshing hint of mint. We had to have it. And now we're pleased to share it with you!
The Chiroso variety, genetically linked to an Ethiopian landrace variety is relatively new and has become known for its floral sweetness and unique herbal notes.
As young people in the coffee world, it’s easy for us to get behind Unblended's mission of making coffee farming an exciting career path for young people. We connected with this coffee through Unblended and are proud to support young producers like Daniel, who are paving the way for the future of specialty coffee and giving back to their communities along the way.
